The ‘Caixa Solidária’ project has arrived in Lagos and to collects food and clothing for those in need

The project is spreading around the country, and moved on from being a simple box of items and now uses refrigerators.

The initiative came from resident Andreia Lourenço, who launched the project with some boxes scattered around the city. Each of them managed by a person involved in the project.

“I soon realized that it was not ideal, as the box is exposed to the sun, rain, dogs, cats….etc.” With the help of Filipa Baptista and this beautiful solidarity, box emerged.

Andreia told us that she felt the need to get more people in the community involved in this project. “Invite friends and create a team that ensures that the refrigerator is supplied at least twice a day. With food, clothes, treats. We spoke with the neighbors and we have their collaboration in cleaning and supporting the refrigerator ”.

Inspiration

In personal terms, volunteering has always been part of her life. Her mother has a project similar to Caixa Solidária in Portimão (which has grown too much for other areas), for 15 years.

On children's day, celebrated last Monday, a solidarity box had a special order: “We took old sheets and touched skirts and capes of superheroes, to offer to the children; and we fill the fridge with toys, clothes and special accessories of the day ”.

“Loving your neighbor is the greatest proof of humanity”

We at Marcela Property, who create local projects that inspire or that there is better in each of us, and of course we couldn't help but contribute.

Refuel or refrigerate and each person can carry a bag with food inside.

We believe that with solidarity and cooperation, to go further and especially in these times, to contribute and share with those who need it most.
