Portugal is the first european country to receive the “Safe Travels” stamp
Portugal is the first European country to receive the "Safe Travels" seal, awarded by the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), which recognizes a commitment to safety.
This distinction aims to certify destinations that comply with hygiene and safety rules in line with the Safe Travel Protocols issued by the WTTC, and purposes to incite confidence in those who travel after restrictions, in order to avoid the spread of covid-19. The seal can be obtained through the WTTC website.
According to the Secretary of State for Tourism, Rita Marques, “Portugal was a pioneer in launching the Clean & Safe seal. This WTTC seal comes to reward the effort that has been made by everyone. The best destination in the world is also seen as the safest in the world. ”
The WTTC also published guidelines for other sectors, including catering, street shopping, aviation, airports, congress centres, meetings and events.
