The Global Retirement Index shows that Portugal is one of the top countries to retire.
Enjoying retirement in a peaceful place with stunning views and excellent quality of life doesn't sound bad at all. Those who already live in Portugal, surely know the country's potential, but for those who live abroad can be hard to choose where to spend their retirement.
International Living conducted the Annual Global Retirement Index 2021 and ranked Portugal in fifth place as the best destination to enjoy retirement.
According to IL: “This tiny country in the southwest corner of Europe has something for everyone. Vibrant cities are full of Old World charm, miles of golden sandy beaches, green, rolling hills, some of the best healthcare in the world, low cost of living, and safety “.
The magazine also praises the Algarve: Known for its Atlantic beaches, fishing villages, golf resorts, waterparks, hot, dry summers. Due to its long history of British tourists coming here on holiday, English is widely spoken.
The report was constructed by opinions and real-life experiences and it seems that the climate represents one of the biggest qualifying factors for the choice.
