ALTHOUGH OFTEN OVERSHADOWED by its glazier Iberian neighbour, Spain, it's the laid-back charms of Portugal that once again drew the Camerons back for some summer sun. Whether it's sleepybeach towns you seek, buzzy fishing villages or more world-class golf resorts you can throw a club at, the Algarve remains a favourite for British tourists and property hunters. It was the third most popular location for property enquiries during 2015 behind Spain and France - for reasons that go beyond the 300 days of sunshine a year and that sought-after slow pace of life.

We would like to share with you our experience during our recent visit to the Real Estate Exhibition in Olympia, London which took place between 6th and 8th May.

A study undertaken by BAV Consulting and Wharton School of Pennsylvania University with the consultancy of the company US News & World Report, has resulted in finding the Best Countries in the World. With Germany leading the ranking, Canada, UK and Sweden are next on the podium, Portugal is not too far behind, occupying position number 23 in the ranks.

As was predicted, in 2015 the Algarve region received an increase of 20.5 percent more French visitors between January and October. With visitors from the United Kingdom leading the chart, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, Ireland and France are following close behind with a significant increase of tourists who visited the Algarve in 2015.

Until recently, Portugal had not been a well-known destination and attracted very few foreign visitors. Portugal remained largely undiscovered until the mid-1990s, when Europeans began immigrating en masse.
