Algarve tourism does not stop

Portugal remains among the best choice of destinations for tourists

Algarve tourism gave positive signs of continued growth in the first half of 2019. According to the National Statistics Institute (INE) there was an increase of 9.3%, which is equivalent to an additional 2.17 million people.

According to João Fernandes, president of the Algarve Regional Tourism: ‘This is due to the commitment of public and private operators boosting the Algarve as a tourist destination’.

The Algarve has always been renowned for the sun, the warm welcome and the impeccable food. Perhaps this also explains the 6.6% increase in local and foreign tourist traffic at the Algarve district airport.

If you are in this area, take a break-in Lagos, a great place to enjoy the 15km of coast or to visit the caves and sculptures of stoneware and limestone carved by the sea.

As for nightlife, you can visit the historic centre of Lagos, where there is no shortage of music, artists or the possibility of having a drink.

Check out this month's schedule:

August 29th - Bath Party

It is an old folk tradition for the whole family.

It is a celebration of the hard work done in the summer and the bathing brings about the possibility of renewing the energies in the waters of the sea. Of course today there are no country people with donkeys and carts going to bathe in the sea, for now there are young people who welcome the tradition with much excitement. They also say that this bath is worth 29 baths!

August 30th - Street Animation

Last Friday in the month, you can find music, dance in Praça do Infante with the artist Fernando Pereira
